I know this is going to sound like I'm bragging or something. The truth is I focus on the negatives way more than the positives and I'm doing my best to recognize and respect my kinder side.

Hopefully it gives some of you who struggle with low self-esteem the motivation to make this shift too. I know how hard it is to see our positive attributes and positive impacts we have on others.

So take this as an example from my life, and see if you can find the things in your life that you can embrace to feel good about yourself.

This is kind of an example of the post I wrote last week about latching on to "real" affirmations to help boost self-esteem. Meaning that we should look at things that are based in the real world and real interactions to build around, as opposed to those statements like "I'm successful" "people like me" "I'm a winner" etc - that, for many of us, our minds will IMMEDIATELY reject because we truly don't see ourselves that way.

Those blanket statements of positivity, well-meaning as they are meant to be, actually end up reinforcing our negative images because our minds say "no ... we aren't that way ... we suck". Anyway ... lol ...

I'm pretty kind and open in my communication styles and do my best to be empathetic and caring. This extends to my work and the people I manage.

I won't go into details but one of my people is leaving our company to go to work for someone else in a few months. I've been working with this person for eight years and mentored and supported their advancement, doing my best to make sure they had everything they needed for success.

They wrote me a very sweet letter last week telling me how much I've meant to them and how I helped them build up their ego and self-esteem. I always made them feel included and important - valued and respected. She told me she and her husband both love me and appreciate everything we've done and how I have supported them both at work and in their personal challenges.

Fuck. NGL I'm so emotional these days, I cried reading that letter.

You never know how you touch other people by just being kind and respectful.

I've been blessed to get a lot of those unsolicited positive feedback messages over the last few months as I've reconnected with old friends. I need to remember these things next time I want to have a pity party or beat myself up.

I hope all of you can think of kindnesses and love you have put out in the world and remind yourself of the same.

I feel we are measured in life by what we put out there.

Be kind to others ... and ... this is the hard one for so many of us ... to yourself!!!

LMAOO yk i’m a speedy typer plus i rlly want to get at least the reqs i have rn done so i can get back to updating long fics and brainstorming an idea for THE fic HAHA also i feel bad leaving requests in my inbox for too long especially because most of the reqs i get are anonymous so they don’t get notified when i post?? so like are they checking frequently whether i’ve answered and being disappointed every time…idk the thought makes me emo FKGJHS

THE OTOYA SWITCH UP WAS LEGENDARY bruh a combo of fwtkac and the idea for hollyhock immediately afterwards was so lethal like i couldn’t help it…honestly i think it’s because i’m as much a writer for plot as i am for characters if that makes sense?? like ofc i want the story to be abt a character i love but if i can come up with a good story plot that only works for a certain character i’ll convince myself to love them so that i can write the story (the best example of this is hurricanes / hummingbirds i wasn’t really a kashimo stan beforehand but he was one of the few characters that would rlly make sense for the plot i wanted so i became the world’s number one kashimo lover because of it) the downside is that i can lose interest faster because it’s not a character i absolutely love…that’s why my two finished long fics (endure for aot and pomegranate ink for jjk) managed to be completed — they were both for characters i actively liked, had plots i was interested in writing, had endings i could work towards, AND also followed canon?? idk why but fics set in canon are easier for me to finish even though i end up expanding on/diverging from canon usually anyways…that’s another reason why i haven’t come up with THE miraverse bllk fic yet because like we discussed girls + bllk setting don’t really work super well 😭 my typical fic plotting method is finding a hole in canon that i can insert a character into (ex reverse cursed technique users), making a character to fit that niche, and then seeing what happens to the plot with the existence of that character (plus the additional ones that develop from it like tullia, may, elakshi, etc etc) but there is no obvious place where a female character would work super well in bllk and without changing the entire plot TOO dramatically/being a mary sue soooo i’ve been struggling a bit but trust i will prevail

Writing Wednesdays

AKA Screaming Into the Void #1 Out of fear for driving my friends mad with unsolicited writing updates, I've decided to dedicate one day a week to dump my miscellaneous writing thoughts and chart the progress of my current fic. I got the idea for this fic on the 13th, and in the past week I have: 1. I wrote a thoughts dump document of all the plot points that I've thought of so far, and already it's 2.5k words long 2. I started a document for the fragments of scenes I plan to use in the future, and it's 1.5k long 3. I wrote a file for the title, tags, summary, and first author's note, and it is 1.5k long. 4. I wrote one outline and didn't like it, and it was 0.95k long. 5. Then I wrote another two outlines, for two of the three major plotlines, and it's currently 0.98k long and I like it. 6. I started writing the first chapter, and wrote 567 words for it. Currently I plan on having ~40x4000 word chapters; we'll see how that plan goes when I actually start writing. I think I am aiming for 2000 words a week, for 2 chapters a month. I wish I could write faster but having a life and other hobbies does cut into writing time. 7. Started a cast of characters list; 3/15 are basically OCs and 2 of them have extensive backstories now 8. Bought a pack of tarot cards for writing purposes, made a fic writing playlist with 50+ songs on it, started this tumblr, made up a fictional country and culture, researched the cuisine of the country I'm ripping off, and wrote this post. It's...a good amount of work, 6k words in 6 days is very respectable. Figuring out that this fic is going to take roughly a year and a half to finish is well - not ideal, but that year and a half is going to pass anyway, I might as well have fun writing a fic while I do it.

Here's to hoping the next week goes as well as this one has.

The reason we don’t go into much detail for the reviews generally is because it’s not like the author asked us to do that, so we’re not gonna go on here and give unsolicited advice or anything. We’re simply here to show our support!

Pagiecake, though, specifically asked us to review Assorodus. While Mavis and I are definitely not professionals, we do have quite a bit of writing experience outside of fanfiction so we thought we’d give this story more effort as a way of showing the author our appreciation for supporting our blog!

Assorodus meaning "silvery water".

Purpose may or may not exist, depending on our personal ideologies. The Endless know better though, they saw the entity prowling the lands before the beginning of history, and it was older than them. Not by much, a few eons maybe, arriving after the birth of the universe we know. For this being was strong and withered the coldness of the void until everything was created. First of Writers, the name it was given, for the inherent purpose of every breathing thing had to be formed in words. Whether we believe in it or not.

His body I recognise, I’ve seen him naked before, but now the stretch of his skin is strange, sickly, I can see his bones protruding from underneath as if trying to break through his pale flesh. I remember his complexion being fair, though not to this extent. Partly obscured by his jet-black hair, his eyes are two windows to fiery rage, so much so, that I sense he is not sure who I am yet, his swirling emotions rendering him blind. Pink lips barely moving, he slightly pulls them into a scowl, threatening me without the use of words. I know him, but at the same time not, not in this state. What have they done to him?

What you can expect:

Very interesting plot. I’ve read a lot of Sandman fics since the TV show came out, and I can confidently say that this is one of the more unique and ambitious fics I’ve read. The tags say Tenderness, and there’s definitely quite a bit of that. It’s interesting, too, since it points to a much deeper story that I look forward to as the story gets updated.

Morpheus and Reader have known each other for a while, so you can expect there’s an air of mystery regarding their relationship—platonic or not. They’re kind of in that weird limbo phase and it annoys the heck out of me as slow-burn fics usually do HAHAHAH AUTHOR PLEASE CUT TO THE CHASE— *cough* anyway, back to Writer Mode™.

Hallo, hallo!! I'm Nova, a pleasure to see you on my blog!! <33 I'm a Wolfstar addict, Belladora ship captain, Marylily/Dorlene admirer, Ao3 author, Dnd player and furry digital artist. I also post the occasional drabble here on tumblr when I get hit with inspiration but can't make the fic long enough (for me) to post on ao3.

My dm's are always open if you want to chat!! I mean about anything, really. Just chatting, questions about anything, etc etc. I love talking to people, but I'm real bad at reaching out first. My anons are also open if you want to send me anything <33 (If you send hate, I will simply use it as an exercise into descriptive writing of ways to say 'fuck you', but go off I guess.)

Anyway, here's my fics for those curious!

Ongoing Fics

They Never Expect the Squibs (TNES) Planned to be a long fic, 75k+ at least. squib!trans!Regulus and genderqueer!Sirius are the main POV's, and there's lots of queer stuff planned. Possible violence, but no explicit smut planned. Mentions of past trauma. Updates every other Friday (bar any life issues).

Sirius only remembers glimpses of a sister he once used to have when he was tiny before she vanished without a word. Regulus first remembers the dingy orphanage, which he was rescued from by a wonderful, accepting couple that raised him as their own. Imagine their surprise when the two meet years later, in the middle of a raging war that was getting quite out of hand. They look almost identical, they could almost be twins. How are they supposed to handle a surprise sibling reunion when the world is crumbling around them? And how are these muggles managing to survive Death Eater attacks, and even win the fights while they're at it?

Freak Like Me (FLM) Also planned to be a long fic, 50k+ words at least. trans!Sirius as the main POV, with bassist!Remus and werewolf!Regulus as major focuses. Also very queer. Wolfstar and Jegulus + other pairs. Explicit smut planned, as well as mentions of past trauma, addiction, etc. Updates alternating Fridays with TNES and CitF.

They're still young, barely in their twenties, and they want to have fun in a world that's a bit shite. When Marlene drags the group to an underground, magical concert, they don't know what they're getting themselves into. Music, werewolves, and rebellion flood Sirius's life all in the course of one night. A bassist with golden-amber eyes and tawny curls, a familiar grey eyed drummer he hasn't seen in years, and a singer with the most obnoxiously pink hair he's ever seen. What could this band possibly bring into his life that wouldn't be worth the way the bassist makes his stomach flip and breath hitch?

Corruption is the flesh that covers every bone. (CitF) Definitely look at the tags before reading this one. James's POV with the occasional POV from Sirius. A dark!Marauders fic that will be filled heavily with dark themes with this such as explicit violence. Rosekillerstarchaser and Wolfstar pairings with other background pairs. Also baby Harry and Teddy (adopted, not with Tonks)!!

In the midst of a war, with a baby on his hip and best friends at his side, James Potter begins uncovering a whole treasure trove of things he never could have imagined. Lies, deceit, slander, and more. Things about himself and Sirius and Peter that they should have realized with the kinds of pranks they pulled, and things about Lily that disgust him. Perhaps they really are more suited for the Dark side.

Kind-Of-Sort-Of-Dad-Uncles MixedUpWritersFest collab with @therealrjlupin!! Wrong number texting fic. PoV swaps between Sirius and Remus.

Remus is more than excited for his kind-of-sort-of-son-nephew to be born and attempts to text Peter the exciting news! Except, it isn't Peter that he texts, it's some stranger who he continues to text because, well, they're quite interest, if a bit egotistical. Sirius winds up getting an unsolicited “in active labour” text one evening from a random number. They find it quite amusing and decide to keep texting this curious stranger that has gotten them so invested in this child they don't even know! Perhaps taking a gift to them in the hospital would be nice if they're going to be updated more.

Beggin' 5.8k words. NSFW Belladora (Bellatrix/Pandora) fluff and smut. The first half is smut free, with a bit of cute toddler Luna before the smut begins~

Bellatrix has just finished 'taking care of' a group of Order members with Fenrir and has found some distressing news. She returns home to her partner Pandora and daughter Luna later that evening, and Pandora soon helps her to stop thinking about it for a while.

Hell's Welcoming 12.9k words. NSFW Priest!Remus just got dropped into hell and is welcomed by Devil!Sirius in a way that surprises both of them ;) Beginning of a series of stand alone one shots that build on each other

Remus has spent the last forty-some odd years as a wonderful priest, following his vows to the letter and working to help to make the world a better place. He believed he would walk through the pearly gates of Heaven when he finally met his end... Except that's not at all what happens. Rather, he wakes up and soon finds he's been dropped down to Hell without a second glance. Sirius has been doing their job as the Ruler of Hell extremely well for centuries. So they'd seen plenty of souls that would theoretically go to Heaven be dropped down to Hell simply because 'God' doesn't want them. None have ever been like the priest that landed on his desk one evening just after his death, though. Remus and Sirius come to realize this arrangement is perfectly alright with them, however.

Special Nights 9.8k words. NSFW trans!Sirius ends up in a weird mutual masturbation situation on accident with James and Remus... It works out very well in the end

Remus came back for sixth year hot and of course Sirius noticed it. He managed to get through the first week just fine, he distracted himself well enough to not indulge in fantasizing too much. Until they go to bed early, high off adrenaline from a good day of pranking and he just wants to sleep, but he also keeps imagining Remus. Then he hears a moan from somewhere else in the room. From James's bed, in fact. But that's just the beginning for our delightful Sirius.

Gender Adventure 3.6k words. trans!James helps gn!Sirius come to terms with who they really are and protects them when needed. Second part will come out... eventually :D

When Dorcas comes out as nonbinary in the beginning of fourth year, it kick starts Sirius's thoughts into his own gender identity. With the help of best mate James and his wonderful parents, as well as wonderfully accepting friends, Sirius starts the journey- or adventure, as one may call it- into figuring out what it all leads to.

Coffee and Tea 888 words. Real simple Harry and Draco bump into each other at a coffee shop.

Harry's there to just get his morning tea, like he does most days. He isn't, however, expecting to hear the one voice he'd never thought he'd hear again. After all, who would have expected to find Malfoy in a muggle cafe of all places?

A Very Sassy Potter

748 words. Possibility of more in the future. Harry is a sassy Slytherin and he talks back to Snape in the very first potions class of first year.

Harry has grown up not taking any shit, so when Snape comes at him trying to make him look stupid, Harry shows him he's far from it.

Love of a Mother 3k words. Molly Weasley focused, multiple pairings mentioned. Tells a story of how Molly protects all the kids she can through the war~

When Molly Weasley sees Vernon Dursley and how he treats Harry, she decides to take Harry instead. She gives him a home and family, and against Dumbledore's wishes, doesn't let him go back to a place such as the Dursleys. When Narcissa comes to Molly with a request, she takes Draco in with open arms. She gives him the kind of love Narcissa was never able to while around Lucius. Molly loves her children, she just wants them to be happy.

Yule Ball Confessions 3.7k words. Drarry fic with vague Pansmione. Pansy and Hermione are fed up and make the boys dance at the Yule ball together.

Harry takes Hermione to the Yule Ball, but he doesn't quite realize that she's up to something. In what seems to be a coordinated plan with Pansy Parkinson herself, Hermione manages to somehow convince Draco bloody Malfoy to 'teach' Harry to dance... Which somehow leads to something highly unexpected?

On hold/Being rewritten

Another Black Sheep 79k+ words. 5 chapters so far. Currently being rewritten very slowly to be more cohesive and shite. trans!OC + twins focused. It follows their time in school and beyond during the war. Regulus lives, as do Sirius, Remus, etc. This was the first fic I wrote after coming back from a long ass hiatus and jumping from Wattpad to Ao3.

Fox Black has always been a bit strange. Ever since he was little he stood out. Auburn hair, always playing in the mud, and quite loudly wondering why daddy was always so mean about blood status. Of course, he was also once known as Vulpecula Bellatrix Malfoy, eldest child and sole daughter of Narcissa and Lucius Malfoy. But he's always been trouble for the Malfoys, and that doesn't stop when he gets to Hogwarts. Instead, it gets worse, as on the very first train ride to Hogwarts, Fox meets a pair that became the most unlikeliest friends for a Malfoy: Fred and George Weasley.

WRITEBLR ETIQUETTE: A COMPENDIUM

– But not really, of course. That’s just to make it sound fancy. This is just a quick list of basic (and maybe not so basic) writeblr rules/etiquette compounded together by myself and other fellow writeblrs. While Tumblr as a whole is a hell-void for everyone to yell into, it’s a hell-void with standards. Please keep these things in mind when you are interacting with others in the writeblr community to create a pleasant environment for everyone involved.

– On Taglist

Taglists are a big part in generating interactions for your posts as it’s the quickest and easiest way to inform people interested in your wip “hey, look guys, I posted a cool thing and wanted to share.” However it is important to remember that taglists should always be opt-in only. As in, someone should explicitly say they want to be on your taglists before you add them. Also an important note: If you have multiple wips on tumblr, you cannot use the same taglist for all of them unless it is a general taglist. Not everyone is going to be interested in all of your wips; please be courteous to your fellow writeblrs and let them choose what content they want to enjoy. There are certain exceptions to this, however. When writing a wip intro you can tag mutuals who you know might be interested to signal boost, but it’s best to only do this once and with permission.

Please don’t abuse your taglist by using it at every little thing related to your wip. Try to keep it to major posts such as: OC introductions, excerpts, WIP updates/announcements, etc. While people do love hearing from you and viewing your content, endless tags can get annoying and will clog up people’s notifications.

A side note: There isn’t a foolproof way of getting people to be on your taglists, but going to people’s inboxes/dms and asking if they want to be in it is definitely not the right way. I would recommend posting an interest check instead to see who is interested. Interest checks are also great if you’re participating in an event and don’t want to spam people with a lot of posts.

– On General Tagging

Make sure to add appropriate tags when posting content. Add all the relevant content warnings, trigger warnings, NSFW and NSFR tags as needed. Nudity and sexual content-- no matter how tasteful-- should be tagged NSFW.

When wanting to interact with another person’s posts, pay attention to the OP’s tags! If they say DNI, do not reblog, etc, then don’t. Definitely do not tag their original work as inspo/prompt/etc. because that’s just plain rude. It can be seen as invalidating, or it diminishes their work as simply inspiration for other people to use instead of something that can stand on its own.

– On Self-Promotion

Accept the facts now: Tumblr clout is fake. However as writers, even if you are a simply doing this as a hobby, we still need to learn how to promote ourselves and our work if we want to gain interaction. The absolute best way to gain interaction– meaningful interaction– is to interact with other people. Tagging a whole bunch of writeblrs asking for a “follow for follow” is going to get you nowhere in the long run, and honestly, is just annoying. If you’re part of a writeblr discord, use that opportunity to make friends and generate meaningful interaction. Don’t just use it as a place to promote your work and just not interact with anyone.

– On Ask/Tag Games

Meet and Greet Monday, Worldbuilding Wednesday, Storyteller Saturday, etc. are fantastic ways to interact with fellow writeblrs and gives a great excuse to talk about details of your wip you normally wouldn’t get to share. Sending asks to other writeblrs is a great way to learn about their wips and to interact with them, but on the other hand, please try to send good or relevant asks. These ask games are as much a way to help writers develop their story as well as sharing fun tidbits. Try to do a little bit of research into a person’s wip before asking, if possible. If you don’t have any good/relevant questions, then it’s ok to skip a week.

If you reblog an ask game from someone, send them an ask as well! It’s quick, easy, polite, and will absolutely make their day.

In relation to tag games: don’t make chain posts. If you’re tagged in something, just make your own separate post. Adding to the OP’s post makes it so that every like, reblog, comment, etc. ends up clogging their notifications which is not fun.

– Miscellaneous

If you like someone’s post, consider reblogging it! Not only does it help other people see their post, it’ll make their day.

In the same vein, try to add something to their post. Whether it’s a reaction gif/pic, a comment, a simple “nice” in the tags, or keysmashing. Writers love hearing from people and it’s just extra incentive to work more. Unsolicited advice, however, is never welcome.

Respect people’s boundaries. Enough said.

If you’re posting a screencap of an excerpt, add a transcript, even if it’s under a “read more.” For graphics, it’s really up to you, but try to add an image description anyway.

Welcome

Hello there, and welcome to this blog where I judge bones!! Feel free to send bones to me for judgement (you can do this via submissions, send links or pictures in asks or dms, or tag me on posts, whatever works for you!)

I won’t do judgements on original art posted by the artist on tumblr without their permission (to avoid giving unsolicited criticism), though you can still submit those as I am always happy to see bones and reblog art purely for the sake of sharing. This means I will do judgements on art that isn’t the original poster’s (preferably credited) eg images from books/games/tv, art from galleries or other websites, etc (please ask questions if this is not clear; if you’re unsure if a post fits the rules send it anyway and I’ll use my own discretion.) Bacially it’s fine so long as I’m not doing an unasked-for judgement on the artist’s own post.

You can send me your own real bones if you want (eg x-rays, MRIs; please no picture of wounds that bones are poking through, though). I won’t judge them ‘cause I’m not comfortable getting that personal, but I may well compliment you and make puns. Before you send x-rays or such please check there’s none of your personal information visible, I’ll check before I post it too though. I'll tag them "real people bones" if you want to filter it.
